VenrisRPG (Mid 2019)

Never released, but my crappy version of FNAF World with my own characters. It never really got far outside of a world level with only a few trees, and a few cutscenes. The project burned and crashed shortly after it was made due to me realising how much work an RPG would take. There were a few other projects that i dont entirely remember, but nothing came of them. This one is notable because its the precursor to what would eventually be my first game.

The Venris Game (Late 2019)

My very first game, not really good. I think it was made around November. I remember slaving away at this game every chance i got. It was fun to work on at the time, as everytime i got something to work it was like i had an "Achievement Unlock" in my brain. It was amazing finally finishing it, an EXE file on my computer made by me, a game i actaully made. Looking back, theres a lot of things i learned from this game. Theres a lot of things that suck about it of course, but i wouldnt have it any other way. The Venris Game is a game about "Venris". he is guided through this strange world by a narrator (similar to the games inspiration "The Stanley Parable"). The game is kind of all over the place, but the main idea is pretty generic. Venris has to destroy the entity called The Dark Lord to restore peace

Henry's Thanksgiving (Late 2019)

This second game of mine ultimately failed to be a good game due to the lack of energy for it. I think the reason why is because Venris Game had a lot of work packed into it in such a short amount of time, that when i got to Henry's Thanksgiving, i was all out of motivation and creative energy. Henry's Thanskgiving was up on one of my old Blogger sites, but i took it down just because of how bad it was in hopes that i could come back to it in the future. It starred "Henry", and your goal was to rebuild your house after you burned it down by leaving a turkey in the oven for too long.

The Block Thing (Late 2019)

The Block thing ended up being my third project, when i think it should have been my first given how simple of a concept it is. This time, there is no story in the game. You are a grey block thats only goal is to escape the laser chasing you. To win, you must platform over to the checkpoint without getting touched by the laser. There are a few powerups to make the game a bit more interesting, but thats about it.

The Venris Game: Episode 1 Development Hell (2020-2022)

I could be here for 3 hours talking about the hell that it was to develop a sequel to The Venris Game, instead ill make it short. The Venris Game: Episode 1 would have been the first in a series of episodes, ideally reaching Episode 3 as its conclusion (where valve couldnt). Instead i would learn to not make games by looking at other games and thinking "I could make that but like my own version!" This exact philosophy is the reason why i never sucessfully released a project into the world until Tree Man Destiny. The details of my struggle to make Venris Game's sequel arent really important. Basically i kept making the same player, gun and inventory mechanics over and over again, with slight variations and different features i thought would be fun, without any actual plan for a story or purpose. There were 2 attempts that actually had work put in, with one of them getting really close to being something, however they were nothing more than interactive cutscenes. They were also my first two attempts, with everything after being a disaster. I had forgotten to give love to my projects, instead thinking that i was just bad at making games. Luckily i would get out of this development hell, within time. I would first need a break.

The times get iffy for my memory, but for a year or two i stopped making games and fucked around making Minecraft SMPs with friends.

PersonSlot (2021)

I would explain the name but im not sure what i will do with this project yet so i dont want to share too much about it. Maybe you will be able to infer. PersonSlot is a game inspired by Petscop. I watched a bunch of Game Theory videos and Pyrocynicals video on it and thought it was interesting. This one of the only games where i thought "I could make that but like my own version!" and got close. They really arent anything alike visually other than the player characters of both having similar animations. I dont remember the premise of Petscop but i dont think it was extremely similar to what i ended up creating. In my game, the player is in this small cult obsessed with gaining god-like powers. In order to do so you have to steal the souls of the enemies (and sometimes innocent people) in order to gain ultimate power. along the way you also get magical items that can help defeat enemies and solve puzzles. You could choose to go against or to follow the cult. If you went against the cult and helped people, you would get rewarded by the people of the towns you visit. if you decided to go with the cult, you would do the bad stuff. I guess i did share a bit, but i dont think this game would have the same name or premise if it came back. The reason this one was canned was because i was fed up after misplaced events caused enemies to clip through walls and wander outside of rooms on one level, and rage quitted development. This would have unexpected benefits however.

Tree Man Destiny (2022)

With PersonSlots death, Tree Man Destiny was born. Originally treeMan was going to be a puzzle game, at the time called "Tree Man and the Important Task". I really had no idea what i was doing with this so i just kept trying to make stuff that stuck. I dont remember exactly how it happened, but i eventually came to the idea of infinite levels. I knew i wasnt going to be able to handle procedural generation, so i opted to make 200 levels by hand to make it feel like it was changing even if you could easily start to recognize levels by their geometry. Then i added guns and swords, a shop. Things were coming together! I had a friend who made music in Jummbox, and he cooked up some chiptune stuff that perfectly fit the game. I still listen to the songs ocasionally because it reminds me of how great making that game was. It was also great to have someone to work on the game with as well, even if it was just Music. I think thats another thing, Nowadays I keep people out of my projects other than them helping playtest ocasionally, when theres nothing wrong with maybe getting an Artist or Musician on board a time or two. Overall im proud of Tree Man Destiny, even if 1.0-1.4 was kind of a mess gameplay wise, it will always be one of my favorite projects to work on, and i hope the sequel is even better!

Zombie Forest Demise (Late 2024-Early 2025)

Zombie Forest Demise was near to succombing to the same fate as PersonSlot. I had played My Summer Car with mods and a 100% completed save (because i tried building the car to a tutorial and it still didnt fucking work). I liked the idea of making a game where you have to build something very realistically, like a car or some kind of piece of technology, and of course i had the itch to try and make my own thing. The problem was finding the main goal, the thing the player was supposed to create. eventually i gave up and decided to default on a Zombie game idea i had after playing Unturned for a week. The idea was to have zombies and survivors, where a random number would decide if a survivor was friendly or would kill you. I ended up making a zombie game, just without the survivors killing you. I tried to go for a 90s edutainment game style at first, and it ended up becoming what it is now. Its not a terrible game, but it became more of an AFK type game, waiting for your team to bring back resources they find. I put the project on hold to work on other stuff like Tree Man 2, because I thought it was complete enough for now. I may still come back to it, but right now im working on Tree Man Destiny 2.
